description If you are interested in having a RV delivered and set up on your campsite at Carpinteria SB, El Capitan SB, Gaviota SP, or Refugio SB Campgrounds, the following Concessionaire is the approved contract provider: 101 RV Rentals (805) 210-7391. No business or private party may conduct business on State Park property without an approved contract. Gaviota State Park is a popular spot for swimming, picnicking and surf fishing. This section of the coast was first called "gaviota" (seagull) by soldiers of the Portola Expedition in 1769. A pier on the west end of the beach is used by divers and surfers. A Southern Pacific railroad trestle crosses the creek above the day-use parking lot. Visitors can explore the upland portions of the park from a trailhead in the parking area. Gaviota Peak offers a view of the coast and the Channel Islands. Check the State Parks website for additional information on the weather, suggested day hikes, or to see the park brochure, campground map, park photos, video, and more. importantInformation A project to re-align the northbound lanes and straighten a curve along US Highway 101 from north of Mariposa Reina to south of the Gaviota State Roadside Rest Area will begin on Monday, April 18, Caltrans officials have announced. For the duration of this project, motorists going northbound on US Highway 101 will be unable to turn left onto Gaviota Beach Road to access Gaviota State Park or turn left onto northbound US Highway 101 from Gaviota Beach Road. Northbound motorists will detour at the State Route 1 Interchange north of the tunnel before returning southbound. Northbound motorists leaving Gaviota State Park will have to travel south to Mariposa Reina to access northbound onramp approximately 1 mile. Rodent Warning Park visitors are advised the park is experiencing an increase in the rodent population such as ground squirrels this year. Ground squirrels can damage property and equipment. While we strive to control rodent populations at this campground park visitors who occupy campsites must take precaution to protect their food and equipment. California State Parks is not responsible for damage to personal property. Discount Pass must be presented at the time of check in. Your DMV Disabled Placard/License Plate does not automatically give you a discount on your campsite. You will need to obtain a CA State park-issued Disabled Discount Pass (DDP) or Distinguished Veterans Pass (DVP). There are high winds experienced at this park, and no refund will be given due to wind conditions.. It is not uncommon to experience winds of 50 mph or more! Fees include entry for 1 vehicle and 1 legally towed vehicle or trailer, additional vehicles will be charged per night at the park. Although your site may hold 2 or more vehicles, your reservation only covers 1 vehicle (except for group or specialty sites). 04/01-09/30: Reservations are available 10/01-11/30: All sites are 1st 1st Fridays and Saturdays ONLY weather permitting; closed Sundays through Thursdays. 12/01-03/31: Closed when not on reservations.
